Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
This is a wonderful story of an orphan who accidentially finds an unlikely home. The vivid descriptions paint a picture in your mind of Prince Edward Island, the setting of the story. This is the first of a series of books about Anne Shirley and the new life she finds.

    Many Waters by Madline L”Engle

Many of L’Engle’s books feature various members of the Murry family.
In this novel, the twins, Sandy and Dennys, accidentally interfere with their scientist father’s time experiment. They instantly travel from an icy New England night in the late 20th century to someplace warm, sparsely populated, with low humidity, a place with unicorns, mastodons, angels and a family including Shem, Japheth, Ham and Noah. L’Engle combines scientific theory and Biblical knowledge in a way that blends the twins’ first brush with love with their longing to travel safely home before disaster strikes the Earth.

Trouble by Gary Schmidt is a Bluegrass Award nominee for 2009-2010. This book follows a young man as he attempts to deal with his brother’s sudden death due to a traffic accident. As he journeys to the mountain that he and his brother had planned to climb, he learns more about himself, and learns that the situation surrounding the wreck was not as simple as he once thought.
